The Cumulus Radio Station Group, a leader in the radio broadcasting
industry, combines high-quality local programming with iconic, nationally
syndicated media, sports and entertainment brands to deliver premium content
choices to the 245 million people reached each week through its 433
owned-and-operated stations broadcasting in 89 U.S. media markets (including
eight of the top 10), approximately 8,000 broadcast radio stations
affiliated with its Westwood One network and numerous digital channels.
Together, the Cumulus Radio Station Group and Westwood One platforms make
CUMULUS MEDIA one of the few media companies that can provide advertisers
with national reach and local impact.
In 1993, the station was acquired by American Radio Systems, flipping to a country music format. It switched its call sign to KHKI, billing itself as "97.3 KHKI, Hawkeye Country." That referred to the team name for the University of Iowa, the Hawkeyes. Later, it shortened the moniker to "The Hawk 97-3" before becoming "97.3 The Hawk." On May 24, 2013, KHKI became "Nash FM 97.3" as part of Cumulus' plan to convert most of its 84 Country-formatted properties to the "Nash FM" brand.
